A settlement has been reached with Steel Warehouse Company, LLC (“Steel Warehouse” or “Defendant”) in a class action lawsuit. This case is about the targeted cyberattack on Steel Warehouse's computer systems that occurred in January 2025 (the “Data Incident”). Certain files that contained private information were accessed. These files may have contained personal information such as names; Social Security numbers; addresses, driver's license numbers; government-issued ID numbers such as passports; dates of birth; and financial information such as credit/debit card numbers.
The lawsuit is called In re: Steel Warehouse Data Incident Litigation, Cause No. 71D04-2508-CE-000011. It is pending in the Indiana Commercial Court in the St. Joseph County Superior Court (the “Litigation”). Steel Warehouse denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit (the “Settlement”) to avoid the costs and risks, disruptions, and uncertainties of continuing the Litigation.
